I felt so horrible about trying to do book promotion in the wake of the election in November that I felt like Mother of Souls didn't get a proper launch. So six months later, I'm going to spend all of May re-promoting books that were released in November, starting off with my own. I'll be including some books that people specifically requested me to cover, and for the rest it will simply be books that I think look interesting.

So here's the thing: I can't be the only author who had a book released in November (or December, or January...) who felt too gobsmacked by political events to feel comfortable going all out on book promotion. (Heck, it took me most of November to get out of panic attack mode.) So I'm giving myself permission to do a 6-month anniversary book release re-boot. And to feel a bit less self-conscious about it, I'm going to make a general offer.
One of Alpennia's biggest fans, Shira Glassman (whose own novels are delightful fluffy stories about Jewish lesbian princesses and such) has commissioned some promo art featuring Barbara & Margerit and Antuniet & Jeanne. Check out the art on her tumblr--it's gorgeous!
Also, I got an email about a short story acceptance today, about which I'll say more when the contract is officially signed.
I have no idea what the occasion is or how long it will last, but Amazon currently has the paperback version of The Mystic Marriage on sale for $7.00 (less than the usual e-book price).
Didn't make it to the reading and discussion yesterday? You're in luck because a recording of it is up on YouTube. I haven't had a chance to review it yet, so please be gentle if I ended up sounding ridiculous.
This Sunday February 19th at 4pm, a group of six Bella Books authors (including yours truly) will be reading and talking about why we write at Laurel Bookstore in downtown Oakland. (See link for details.) I'd love to see people there!
This post is mostly an exercise in convincing myself that I've been productive this year, even though I only had two pieces of fiction come out (and one of those was a self-published free novelette). I hope that it may have a second purpose, which is to entice people who don't follow my blog to consider doing so.
